Run Multiple YouTube Live Streams at Once (Multi-Camera Setup)
You can broadcast several cameras to YouTube Live at the same time — YouTube supports multiple simultaneous live streams. The setup decision is whether they run on one channel or on separate channels, and it mainly depends on how you want to embed them.
First stream not running yet? Start with the YouTube Live Setup.
Option A: One channel, multiple streams
In YouTube Studio, create one Scheduled Stream per camera. Each scheduled stream gets its own stream key — copy each key into the matching camera in your webcam.io dashboard.
- Pros
- One channel to manage, all cameras under one brand.
- Cons
-
The permanent Channel-ID embed (
/embed/live_stream?channel=…) can only show one live stream per channel. For the other cameras you must embed by Video ID — which changes whenever a stream restarts. Workable for streams that rarely restart, fragile for 24/7 webcams.
Option B: One channel per camera (recommended for embeds)
Create a separate YouTube channel for each camera (one Google account can own multiple channels via Settings → Add or manage your channel(s)). Each camera streams to its own channel.
- Pros
- Every camera gets its own permanent embed URL that survives restarts — see Embedding a YouTube Live Stream. Clean analytics per camera.
- Cons
- More channels to set up once; each channel needs live-streaming enabled (may take up to 24 h after activation).
Setup in webcam.io
- Add each camera in your dashboard (also see Multiple Cameras with webcam.io)
- Assign one YouTube target (stream key) per camera
- Use Scheduled Streams, not the Stream Tab — required for 24/7 operation (why)
- Enable the Backup stream option (in webcam.io) per camera to bridge short outages
Recommendation
| Goal | Setup |
|---|---|
| Embed all cameras permanently on your site | One channel per camera (B) |
| Viewers watch on YouTube itself | One channel, multiple scheduled streams (A) |
| Mix: one main camera embedded, others secondary | Main camera on its own channel, rest shared (A+B) |
